For 25 years Rick Jensen has endured and succeeded in the New York music world as a singer/ songwriter, musical director, teacher, and C.D. producer.

His work has earned him five Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs MAC Awards, Two Backstage Bistro Awards, Two National GLAMA awards, and the cover story of Cabaret Scenes October 2005 issue. Rick’s original song “Go Ahead and Dream”
will be featured in the upcoming feature film “That’s What I Am” staring Ed Harris. The new film has been singled out and will be honored at the 2011 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Beyond his solo work he is frequently found musical directing, accompanying, arranging, producing, and even singing back up for a number of Musical Theatre and Cabaret luminaries including Jason Graae, Liz Callaway, Barbara Fasano, Jeanne MacDonald,
Lina Koutrakos and Tovah Feldshuh. With Feldshuh, he toured extensively culminating in an appearance at London’s famed Savoy Theatre raising eight million dollar for charity. Rick is also a featured performer on Composer Carol Hall’s latest CD “Hallsongs” CD.

Rick has taught performance at New York University, The Yale Cabaret Conference, And the Eugene O’Neil conference. He also teaches with Lina Koutrakos and travels to St Louis Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, Santa Fe, and Los Angeles for performance

Rick has been seen in venues as diverse as Downtown’s legendary Duplex cabaret to the stage of Carnegie Hall. Other solo appearances include Washington DC’s Source Theatre, The Roslyn Spectrum Theatre in Arlington, VA, The Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Cabaret Convention at Town Hall, Symphony Space, and The Metropolitan Room. The Advocate said of Spring Harvest, the debut CD on which he performs his original material, “there’s a new genius in the room...Cole Porter, Peter Allen, Tom
Lehrer, and Nancy Lamott must be beaming down on their collective progeny.” Lee Lessack, Lina Koutrakos, and the late Nancy Lamott are just a few of the well known artists to have recorded a Rick Jensen tune.

In 1996 Jensen formed his own recording company, The Doctor Is In Music to record and distribute not only his own albums, but the albums of those performers whose work inspires him. The company has produced numerous acclaimed CD’s.
